Craving for pasta but thinking that only pasta won’t be enough for you? Wanting to try Japanese style pasta? Want to eat a looooota bread for lunch or dinner?
Why not try Kamakura Pasta? π
Kamakura Pasta was one of Japanese pasta restaurant chain in Japan, focusing on Japanese style nama-pasta (freshly cooked pasta type). With a lot of chain all over Japan, I think Kamakura Pasta is not that hard to find.
In Kyoto there are few, and in Osaka’s Universal City near Universal Studio Japan, there’s also one chain. To be honest, I know about this restaurant from there. I always wanted to try, but usually get tired first after playing all day in USJ. And since in Kyoto, near Kawaramachi street they open one new chain near Unizo Inn, I decided to try it. π
The inner interior is so Japanese-esque. With wooden interior design and such. There are table seats and counter seats. Although I prefer table seats since I never go there alone.
So basically the pricing system is we choose which pasta we want and add all-you-can-eat course we want (they have few courses with different price). I tried the cheapest pasta (but one of my all time favorite), Tomato Pasta with Fresh Basil (980 JPY +tax), and add the most expensive all-you-can-eat course (+480 JPY +yax). With this all-you-can-eat course you can get: all-you-can-eat bread (from plain bread to croissant and dessert breads), cheese risotto, wedges potatoes, tamago kake gohan (Japanese style of pouring egg on top of your rice), soup, salad, homemade tofu, and drink bar (from cold soft drinks to hot tea and coffee).

At first, I was a bit worried on the portion of the pasta. But believe me, it’s enough. And even if you think it’s not enough, you can always ask for double portion (there are choices for double portion for few pasta menu).

Here is another type of pasta, the cream based pasta. This one is Salmon and Broccoli in Lemon Cream Pasta. A bit too creamy for me, but I think those who like creamy pasta will love this.

And if you think that’s not enough, or you’re those type of sweet tooth person who wants sweets for dessert, they also have Japanese style desserts. I tried to order Matcha Parfait and I’m not disappointed at all. The matcha soft cream, warabi mochi, anko, matcha shiratama and hidden castella cake blends well. :9 I love how it taste.

After finish dining you can always enjoy a cup of hot Houjicha tea (Kyoto style grilled tea). And it’s perfect.
I must say this restaurant is recommended. π With the plus point for this restaurant is they have an allergen sign on the all-you-can-eat bar, so if you have specific food you can’t eat, you can easily check if it’s there or not (like me who didn’t eat pork, it helps a lot).
Although if you’re a strict eater like me who don’t eat pork, for some pasta menu, it’s better confirm to the waiter if it contains bacon or not. Since they sometime didn’t put bacon on the list, but suddenly it shows on your food (got that experience once, since that I only want to order Tomato Pasta with Fresh Basil. Besides, it tastes better).
All in all, I would say this place is worth to try.
So what do you think? Interested to try? π
I guess thatβs all for now. See you next time. π
Sincerely,
B.N.D.R.
